The Census of Marine Life was a global network of researchers in more than 80 nations engaged in a 10-year scientific initiative to assess and explain the diversity, distribution, and abundance of life in the oceans.  The world's first comprehensive census of the past, present, and future of life in the oceans was released in October 2010.

The Mapping & Visualization team has been developing maps which show all the Census project on one global map, each project defined by a colored layer. We've contacted many of the projects in the past few months to update the layers. Here's a final look at the layers, to make modifications before final CoML publications are put to press leading up to October 2010.
