Travel
The closest and most convenient airport is Raleigh-Durham International Airport (airport code: RDU). Major airlines including American, Delta, Continental, US Airways, United have connection flights from hub airports such as Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, New York (LaGuardia, Kennedy, Newark), Washington Dulles, Detroit, Miami, Dallas-Ft. Worth. See the complete list of airports and airlines that have connection flights to RDU.
Upon arrival at RDU, we recommend to take a taxi to the hotel or Duke. It will be a 30-40 minutes ride and cost about $35-40 (a 10-15% tip is expected).
Transportation
The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the Duke campus every 30 minutes. So probably you don't need to rent a car, if you don't mind taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel.
The hotel is very close to the Duke campus, so it will take less than 10 minutes if no other people ride a shuttle. Taking a 8:30am shuttle should bring you to the campus before 9:00am.
Meals
Breakfast
Breakfast will be served at the hotel (included in the rate).
Lunch
Lunch will be taken on Duke campus or at nearby restaurants except Wednesday. The bills are on your own.
On Wednesday, we will have lunch in A328 (catering from Foster's, local favorite. We will pay for this).
Dinner
We will invite you to dinner at local restaurants (the bills are on us). We will need the final heads count Monday.
Monday 22nd: Lantern Restaurant at 8pm
Tuesday 23rd: Rue Cler at 8pm
We will pick you up at the hotel lobby at 7:30pm.
On Wednesday, the dinner is on your own (no organized eat-out). We are happy to give you some suggestions.
Refreshments
Everyday, coffee, tea and some refreshments (cookies, bars, scones etc) will be served twice a day: 10:00am and 2:30pm.
Drinks (coke, diet coke, sprite), bottled water and orange juice are always available in the lab's refrigerator along with snacks. Feel free to take them to the hotel for a night refreshment.
If you use plastic cups and plates, do not throw them away. We reuse them.
